seated perspectives
A home for disabled joy —
and everything that grows from it.
Hi, I’m Ali.
I’m a disabled writer, speaker, and community builder. After four years of taking up space online as a disability advocate, I’m on a mission to create, celebrate, and centre disabled joy. This is the connecting thread to everything I do here — from hosting an online community space to supporting other disabled creators with their own journeys.

I’m so happy you’re here!
Welcoming you in from beautiful Vancouver, where I live with my husband and two dogs. I’ve been disabled for over 20 years, but it’s only in the last four that I’ve made a conscious effort to embrace my disabled identity and be an active part of the disability community. The Seated Perspectives brand has become my playing field and my way to give back to the community as a writer, speaker, and community builder.
the Disabled Joy Collective: a space exclusively for disabled joy
The Disabled Joy Collective is a space I’m creating for disabled folks to come together around joy, identity, and community.
Think chats in the sitting room, tending to each other, cultivating joy, and finding your people. You’ll also get weekly journaling prompts and my framework for finding your path to joy.
Launching July 31, and waitlist members gets you early access on July 29.
The Gentle Content Club is a space for disabled creators. I’ve used my decade of experience in content, marketing, and branding to build tools and resources exclusively for disabled creators who want to grow their following.
The vibe? Low-spoons content creation.
The mission? Making content creation easier for disabled creators, because we need more of our voices taking up space.
I bring a unique perspective to talking about disability, drawing from my 20+ years of disability and the path I’ve taken towards intentionally choosing disabled joy and embracing my identity and community.
I speak about:
Disabled joy, and my framework for finding it
Resilience vs. ease
The power of community
The power of disabled representation
let’s talk about disabled joy, resilience, and representation.

Stories of joy that exist within disability: From tiny everyday comforts to the big, life-altering moments that pull us closer to ourselves.
Messy truths and quiet rebellions: Because joy and grief and anger often sit at the same table — and we’re allowed to hold all of it. Both/and, baby.
Community reflections: Highlights, submissions, and conversations with disabled creators, thinkers, and friends.
A reminder you’re not alone: There’s a particular kind of magic that happens when disabled folks see themselves reflected. This space is where that magic lives.
If you’re craving a corner of the internet that celebrates disabled humanity — fully, honestly, unapologetically — you’re in the right place.
